The Gift of Life

The Gift of Life

Mrs Banks & Mrs Windsor along with Mr Worth (Chair of Governors) were very proud to attend the official opening of the GIFT OF LIFE MEMORIAL earlier this month.

On the 7th April 2016 the Donor Family Network ‘Gift of Life’ Memorial was unveiled by HRH Duke of Gloucester at the National Memorial Arboretum, Alrewas. The event was attended by over 450 donor families, recipients and health care professionals. The memorial was design by local sculpture artist Julia Hennessy-Priest

What is the Donor Family Network?

It is their mission to become the leading donor family charity in the transplant community by providing awareness of organ donation and through the highest quality support for every donor family.

It is their vision to promote the positive benefits of organ and tissue donation for the families of those who have died and donated, for recipients and for those awaiting transplants

One of the trustees of the charity is former Chair of Governors: Mr Alex Forbes. Since the sad death of Alex’s own son – Robert (former pupil of Redhill), he & his wife Julie have worked tirelessly with the network & families. Their work is  is symbolised by its logo which consists of a butterfly and a forget-me-not. The butterfly represents hope and new life and the forget-me-not means no donor will ever be forgotten.

It was a huge privilege to be part of the event & to be touched by such inspiration.
