Sports Day

SPORTS DAY

What a busy start we’ve had to our Redhill Sports Week! The rain held off for our annual sports day on Monday, with children running races on behalf of their house teams. There were close fought battles, dropped eggs, loud cheers and more than a few trips in the sack race! Well done to Miss Birkett for running alongside some of our nervous children, especially through the obstacle race!

On behalf of all staff and children, we’d like to say a massive thank you to all of the parents for cheering us on and showing their support for our school. The children found the day really enjoyable and some of their positive comments can be seen below.
We do have a winning house team but this is top secret! All will be revealed during Friday’s assembly where children will receive certificates for coming first, second or third in their races and all children will receive a certificate for participating. A massive well done to all children at Redhill for taking part and as Winter in Year 4 wrote, ‘It’s not the winning, but the taking part that counts!’

Pupil’s Thoughts
My favourite race was the relay race because we had to run to the end of the line to give the other person a baton. We all worked really well as a team.

My Favourite race was the sack race because we kept falling over and it was really funny. At the end of the race I fell over in my sack and rolled on the floor; it was hilarious. I enjoyed Sports Day and I’m glad it didn’t rain.

I enjoyed the quoit on the head race because I came second. I was desperate to come first but I was happy with second because I took part.
