Redhill v Bridgtown

Redhill v Bridgtown

On Monday afternoon Bridgtown Primary School visited Redhill for the team’s third football match of the season. Like Roy Hodgson for England a few hours later it was necessary for several changes to be made to the Redhill team with some of the players who took part against St Joseph’s last week not available.

The game began with a few chances for both teams but the scoring was opened by Redhill with some superb work down the left involving Justin and Arron setting up a goal for Chad that was virtually impossible to miss. This means the team captain has now scored in all three games this season, just like Gareth Bale for Wales but sadly none of the England team! As the first half progressed there were more chances for both teams but it was Bridgetown who had the half time advantages they scored two goals to lead 2 – 1. This was only just the case though as Arron hit the crossbar just before the break with a fabulous long range shot.

The second half followed much the same pattern as the first, Bridgetown scored first but Redhill got one back, again through Chad following a great long ball from Owen and some great dribbling and running through Shaun, his 5th goal in three games. With the score at 3-2 it looked as if Redhill might get an equaliser and eventual winner but unfortunately it was Bridgetown who took the ascendancy and scored two late goals to make the final score Redhill 2 Bridgtown 5.

Despite the defeat it was agreed by everyone watching that this was the best Redhill have played in their 3 games and the scoreline certainly doesn’t reflect the performance. Every player for both teams gave 100% and were great ambassadors for their schools. The boys and the watching staff enjoyed it that much that they immediately made arrangements for a return game at Bridgetown, hopefully in the next couple of weeks.

Thanks, as always, to the supporters who included several parents and Mrs Adams. It is great to see you there.

Team: George, Owen D, Charlie, Shaun, Arron, Justin, Chad.
